Fitness event video production and cinematic short-form video campaigns created to promote a HYROX® simulation event, designed to build familiarity, confidence, and early sign-ups for competitive fitness athletes.
CrossFit OL1 partnered with MUVE® to promote a HYROX® Simulation event designed to prepare athletes for HYROX® MCR in Manchester.
The goal of this fitness event video production was simple but time-critical: build anticipation, communicate the event format clearly, and drive sign-ups using high-impact short-form video content optimised for Instagram and paid social.
MUVE® — Maintaining Unstoppable Velocity Everywhere
HYROX® events are as much about mindset as physical preparation. CrossFit OL1 wanted athletes to feel race-day pressure, pacing, and intensity before they ever stepped onto the competition floor.
This project focused on HYROX® MCR in Manchester fitness event video production that puts athletes inside the experience rather than simply promoting an event. Every Reel needed to answer one question instantly as athletes scrolled: “Am I actually ready for HYROX® MCR?”
How
We filmed a full HYROX® style training session at CrossFit OL1, capturing every discipline featured in the simulation event — from 800m runs to SkiErg, sled work, rowing, and burpee broad jumps.
The visual approach prioritised: Slow-motion videography to emphasise effort and fatigue.
Ground-level, athlete-first perspectives to heighten immersion.
A single, distinctive soundtrack to unify the entire campaign.
Motion graphics played a central role. Dynamic data overlays — timers, distances, reps, calories, and heart-rate-style metrics — were built using expressions in After Effects and motion-tracked directly onto athlete movement, reinforcing realism and performance focus.
Despite challenging weather conditions removing drone access on the day, the creative direction leaned into intensity over spectacle, resulting in a more visceral, close-to-the-action visual language.
This approach to HYROX® fitness event video production ensured the content felt purposeful, immersive, and directly connected to race-day demands.
What
The final campaign delivered a complete, event-ready content system:
Each Reel was released weekly in the lead-up to the event, building momentum and familiarity with the race format. Personalised text variations — such as athlete names within the headline “Are You HYROX® MCR Ready?” — helped make the content feel specific, personal, and competitive.
A new visual identity was also developed for the event, including a custom O-L-1 mark and a dedicated Instagram account, @HYROXOL1, which gained immediate traction through cross-promotion.
The result:
sign-ups began arriving within days of the first Reel going live, with the campaign generating over 19,000 total views across all videos.
Results
This campaign demonstrated how event-led short-form video can build urgency, familiarity, and confidence in a compressed timeframe. By combining cinematic slow motion, consistent audio branding, and data-driven motion graphics, the content helped athletes visualise race-day demands and commit early. For CrossFit OL1, the result was momentum — sign-ups began within days, and the content continues to serve as a reusable asset for future event promotion.
