Before MUVE® evolved into a cinematic video production and motion design studio, its foundation was built in this music video production archive — where design, rhythm and visual storytelling first came together.
Between 2008 and 2015, this work focused on artist-led content: music videos, performance visuals and stylised edits — combining filming, motion graphics and early visual effects to explore how sound could be translated into movement.
This era shaped the visual language that defines MUVE® today.
This music video production archive traces the early stages of my career — where graphic design began to evolve into motion.
It started with a single music video. What began as a university project quickly grew into something more — shaping a direction that would go on to span two decades of work across the music industry. The turning point came during my BA (Hons) Interactive Motion Design degree.
Working with Oldham-based rapper D-Tox on his album ‘Rehab‘, the ‘Make You Cry‘ music video combined green-screen filming with layered motion graphics and evolving visual styles. It became a space to explore — pushing into After Effects, testing ideas, and discovering how design could move, react and carry energy.
The project gained attention beyond the university — including coverage from the Manchester Evening News — and opened the door into the music industry.
From that point on, the work shifted fully into motion.
The Shift
Design was no longer static — it became something that could flow, react and carry energy. Music videos became the natural space to explore that shift, where timing, rhythm and visual storytelling all came together.
From that point on, the work moved fully into motion — combining filming, editing, animation and graphic design into a single process.
This period marked the beginning of a growing body of work that now forms this music video production archive — documenting the transition from graphic design into motion, and the development of a visual style shaped through music.
Each project contributed to a deeper understanding of pacing, composition and how sound could be translated into movement — laying the groundwork for everything that followed.
The Career
What followed was a sustained period working across music video production, spanning over 20 years.
Projects ranged from performance-led visuals to more stylised, motion-driven pieces — each one building on the last. The process remained consistent: film, edit, experiment with motion, and refine how visuals and sound work together.
These years shaped the foundations of everything that followed — from cinematic storytelling to motion-led creative direction.
This music video production archive captures a selection of that journey — a progression from early music videos through to more refined, motion-led storytelling.
The Evolution
The approach developed through music videos still underpins the work today — just applied in different contexts.
What began with rhythm, movement and visual experimentation has evolved into a more focused way of working — combining cinematic video, motion design and storytelling into a clear creative direction.
This music video production archive captures that progression — not simply as a collection of projects, but as a record of how ideas, techniques and visual language developed over time. Each piece reflects a stage in that journey, where music shaped the pacing, movement informed the visuals, and storytelling began to take a more defined role.
Through years of filming, editing and building motion-led visuals, a consistent approach emerged — one that prioritises clarity, flow and purpose over decoration. That same thinking continues to guide the work today, whether applied to brand films, commercial content or motion design systems.
MUVE® is the continuation of that journey — shaped by everything that came before it, and refined into a clear, connected creative direction.
Creative music video production was never just about visuals — it was about rhythm, instinct and emotional impact. The same philosophy that shaped those early VFX experiments and motion graphics-driven music videos now drives every cinematic project MUVE® creates.
If you’re looking to turn movement into meaning — to craft something bold, rhythmic and visually unforgettable — let’s create it together.
